Introduction

Bio-Agritech Inc. (Philippines) has developed an organic farming approach to improve the soil condition, attain an optimum level for fruit tree resuscitation, and achieve prolific fruiting.  The fruiting system uses soil-incorporated Compostar Soil Conditioner containing Black Earth humic acid, drip-irrigated Compostar MighTea Bag solutions, and proprietary foliars for tree revitalization, flower-induction and fruit-retention.  The system was applied to around 150 lanzones trees for each fruiting cycle in the last 6 years in the Bio-Agritech farm in Joel Town, San Pablo City, Laguna Philippines. Another 50 trees were left untreated and irrigated with pure water to serve as negative control.

Procedure

at Stages 1, 2 and 4.  To promote vegetative growth at Stage 1, each lanzones tree was applied with a 40-kg bag of Compostar Soil Conditioner around the base in September.  For each cluster of 30 trees, a tea solution from 3-kg bag of Compostar MighTea Bag 1 soaked in 200 L water and added with proprietary microbial solution was drip-irrigated once a day to each tree through a tubing network for 8 weeks from September to October, with 4 changes of Compostar MighTea Bag 1 at 15 days interval.  During the period, the trees were sprayed with 0.5% foliar nutrient supplement LSS1.  To complete the nutritional requirements in preparation for flowering at Stage 2, a tea solution from 3-kg bag of Compostar MighTea Bag 2 soaked in 200 L water was drip-irrigated once a day to each tree per cluster for 8 weeks from November to December, with 4 changes of Compostar MighTea Bag 2 at 15 days interval.  At the same time, 0.5% foliar flower-inducing LSS2 was sprayed to the trees.  At the latter part of flower bloom and appearance of fruits buds at Stage 4 in February, the 150 trees were sprayed with 0.5% foliar fruit-retaining LSS4.  Finally, fertigation with 3-kg bag of Compostar MighTea Bag 4 soaked in 200 L water was carried out once a day from March to June with 8 changes of Compostar MighTea Bag 4 at 15 days interval until maturation and harvest.
